21st birthday in Greece

Started the morning off early yesterday as we have to test every time we get on then back off the ship. The ship took like 4 hours to clear. Clearing is when the officials come on the boat and check it basically. I decided to dress cute for my birthday, I regretted it later when it started raining.

Anyway once we finally got off the ship, we took a taxi to Athens. We have found out pretty quickly that uber is way better/cheaper. The taxi guy was so nice, he took us on the scenic road and explained all the sites. It was so cute, he even pulled over so we could stop and take a picture.

Once we arrived in Athens, we stopped at the first restaurant we saw. The restaurant, Thea, was a rooftop bar that had a view of the Acropolis. The guy at the restaurant was so nice, he gave me birthday shots! It was like an apple Cinnamon type of shot, basically a better fireball. I have eaten the best food yet while on this trip. The falafel was so good especially when it was dipped in hummus. Also the pita and hummus is unmatchable. I think I ate like a pound of hummus….

When at the restaurant more SAS people walked in, we are basically the only tourists in Athens right now. The group that walked in was my birthday twin (we have the same birthday) so they brought shots for all 20 of us!

After the restaurant, we all headed to the Acropolis. I was the tour guide because I had been before. It was so beautiful at the top. It was raining and windy when we went up but we saw a full rainbow at the top! Such a cool moment. After the Acropolis, we headed back to the other girls' airbnb. We warmed up and invited over more SAS people to join us.

After we warmed up, we headed to the bar we were at earlier in the day because the owner said if we came back they would give us 50% off. After some drinks and more hummus we headed to the number 4 ranked cocktail restaurant in the world. My cocktail was actually amazing - well the part of the cocktail I didn’t spill, I take after my mom with that trait.

After the bar we headed back to the airbnb because clubs are not open right now in Greece. They are actually not allowed to play music in bars or restaurants right now. So we just hung out until me and two other girls had to head back to the ship because of our field class. Getting back on the boat was kinda a mess. I was not sober and kept falling. But I got on without being stopped which is very good because otherwise I would have gotten dock time. Dock time is when you do something against the rules or in my case come back drunk, they penalized you by making you wait before you can disembark the boat.

Anyways I had the best 21st!! I turned 21 in Greece, I’m such a lucky girl!! Thanks for all the birthday wishes :)
