Adventure Packed Day

Started the day off at about 9:30 when our driver and tour guide for the day picked us up at our airbnb. Dario, our driver, was amazing. We had a group of twelve for the entire day planned, for only $50 not including food and tastings.

We started the day in Old Town. He talked to us more about the city walls and the history. After the quick drive by we headed up the Mount Srd. The road to the top was a bit crazy for our large van. In the summer, they have a gondola to the top but it was closed because it is off season. The view from the top was really cool. You could see the old city and the walls surrounding the city. After the view point, we got back into the car to go to a place to view our ship. The spot was over the fairly new bridge they built in 2002. It had a perfect view of the ship.

After the quick pit stop, we headed into the mountains. He took the backroads so we could see a cute village up on the hill. We also stopped at the top of the hill to overlook the water and surrounding islands! It was so pretty. The water is insanely clear, its crazy. From on the hill we could still see the sea floor. The area is called Doli.

After the stop, we got back into the car to head to a winery. The winery was so cute. It was a small place that just made a couple types of wine. We got to taste 4 different wines as well as homemade liquor. I wasn’t a huge fan of any of the wines we tried, but the wine taste has nothing to due the with entire experience as a whole. The people here are crazy nice. I just love it.

Anyways after the wine tour, we headed to Ston. Driving into the city we got some cool information on the oyster and salt farming. After we arrived, we headed towards the walls in Ston. The walls are the second longest wall in the world behind the Great Wall of China. The steps up the wall were definitely a work out.

We then headed into town and towards the Ston castle. Another girl and I went alone because the rest of the group was hungry. On the way, we found an abandoned bike. No wonder it was abandoned, - the pedals did not work. It was so funny trying to ride it. We failed pretty badly. After our bike ride (if you can even call it that), we roamed around the city. It is very small we walked the whole thing in about 20 minutes.

After we ran out of tourist places to go, we sat down at a wine bar while waiting for the rest of the group. It was a cute little place, we had some drinks and hung out in the sun.

After about an hour at the wine bar, we headed back towards Dubrovnik. On the way, we had a beautiful drive into the country side where a local family welcomed us into their home for dinner. Everything, I mean everything, was farm-to-table. It was such a cool experience. We stayed at dinner for almost four hours. It really was a surreal experience.

After dinner, we got dropped back off at our airbnb in Dubrovnik. We quickly changed and went back to the same bar from the night before, it was the only one open again. Anna and I came back pretty quickly as we were so tired from the day of travel.

Really fun day today!
