Brest, France and Moulin Rouge in Paris - March 16th

Our ship docked in Brest, France. The day started off early as we were allowed to disembark by 7:30am but ended up getting off by 8:30am. We headed to a café in the main part of town. Brest is a bit of an underwhelming town. It is cute but it does not have a ton of things to do. After a bit in the first café, we decided to head to another one up the street.

While Anna and Isa went to the other café, I headed to a camera repair shop. My Nikon camera has an error code blinking at me. It started doing it halfway through Portugal where I first visited a camera store. The store employees did not speak English, so I tried to point to error code. The employee looked at it and tried a few things but was not able to fix it. The camera store in Brest was not able to fix it either. As I left the shop, it was pouring rain (my winter coat was not doing too well in the rain).

The second café was a very cute local spot. We sat in the café, cleaned up email and got some random work done. I also messed around with the camera for a couple of hours. I think I finally figured out what was wrong - the shutter appears to be stuck. However, in order to fix it, the camera need to be sent to Nikon for a recall. This is not going to work. I am sad that it stopped working, but if this is my biggest issue while abroad, all is good! On our 2-hour train to Paris, I spent the time getting organized for when I arrive back in San Diego.

Once we arrived in Paris, we attempted to get a taxi or an Uber. We failed as they all cancelled on us or wanted to charge us a ridiculous amount, so I made the decision we were going to take the Metro, as I'd taken it on my prior trips to Paris (thanks dad). I made everyone buy a three-day pass so we could us it the entire time in Paris. Everything went smoothly, even though I was a bit nervous bringing our big bags on.

The hotel we booked was so cute. It was a corner room with a huge balcony looking over the square outside. We arrived at the hotel later than we expected, so we quickly changed into dresses for our 11pm showing of Moulin Rouge. We had planned to get dinner but ran out of time, so instead we had crepes! I saw a stand outside the venue so of course I needed one. We had dresses on, but were still underdressed for the show. Paris makes me question my clothing. The show was incredible. It is set up with tables around a main stage. When you purchase a ticket, you get a half bottle of champagne with it which certainly helped us enjoy the show. The show was a mix of Burlesque, circus, dance, Americas Got Talent, and a concert. My mouth was wide open in awe the entire show. If you ever got to Paris, this is a MUST. The show ended late and we walked to the Metro to find out it closes at midnight. We ended up getting a tax home no problem. As soon as we arrived home, we all fell asleep pretty much right away.
