We met our guide for a wine tour in the Penedes region outside of Barcelona, one of Spain´s most famous wine regions and the region where CAVA is produced. We went to Castell de Pontons, a property owned by our guide’s family since 1336. They have been producing wine since the early Middle Ages. We also learned about the history of wine making in the region that dates back to the Roman Empire. We walked the vineyard, visited the cellar, and had a wine tasting paired with tapas (including Iberian ham) in the Castle’s main hall. We left with a few bottles of wine, Cava, and essential oils created onsite the castle’s caretaker and farmer.
After our castle wine tour, we walked the beach, visited Citadel Park, and took photos of the Arc de Triomf. My cousin requested dinner at an “American place”, so we had burgers and fries.
After midnight, we were able to get into Razzmatazz club – it is five floors tall and fits 3,000 people. It was crazy…
