Day 5 in Spain - Sagrada Familia Basilica & Park Güell

Writer: Meg Meg

We started the day by visiting La Sagrada Familia, a massive unfinished Catholic Basilica that dominates the skyline. While work began in 1882, it’s still under construction with an ever-changing completion date many years into the future. Designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí, it is unique!

Also one of the most famous sights of Barcelona, Parc Güell is a park composed of gardens and architectural elements located up on a hill. Created by Gaudí as well, it’s also odd - the homes look like gingerbread houses. The plaza that overlooks the homes is decorated with ceramics and mosaic benches.

After a morning of Gaudi, we had burgers at Five Guys. I was having a craving! In the afternoon, we walked around the Gothic Quarter and El Born for a photo shoot. My grandma wanted to visit the Ice Bar, so we put on warm coats and mittens for a cocktail in a glass made of ice. We then stopped for a Japanese dinner on the waterfront.

We taught Anna cribbage before going out for drinks with friends. Around 10pm, a neighbor knocked on our door to remind us that 11pm was quiet time in the unit. We weren’t loud -- I was playing cards with my grandma! And the bar below the neighbor’s unit is open until 3am!

We weren’t going to go clubbing again but it just happened! It was after 4am before we returned to our beds.
