Denmark Day 4 and Day 5: Good Food – April 5th & 6th

Writer: Meg Meg

Anna and I went to breakfast again - just the two of us, Laney did not make it after her late night out. The brunch was called the Midwest Diner. We saw it a couple day earlier and decided we had to go. We even got a milkshake.

After brunch, we headed to Freetown Christiana. Freetown is a local hippy neighborhood that has turned into an area in Denmark where you can buy and sell weed. It is not legal but apparently the cops do not go into the area. It was a very interesting experience. Anna and I came and went very quickly, as it is definitely romanticized. After, we headed back to the hotel to grab our computers before going to to a café. We first started at an Acai bowl place. It was so good as I had missed fruit bowls. After the café closed, we headed to a local bakery until we had to leave for dinner. Dinner was at Catalina. It was a set menu with local food. Some of the dishes were definitely interesting, and not exactly sure what I was eating because we couldn’t read the menu. After dinner, we went to the Irish Pub and met up with some other Semester at Sea students that we partied with the rest of the night.

The next morning Anna and I went to breakfast again before heading back to the ship to set our bags down. After we dropped our things, we headed to The Happiness Museum. As Denmark is known for being one of the worlds happiest countries, so we had to see the museum. It was small but it reminded me to be thankful for everything. After the museum, I stopped at store to buy a few snacks for the ship before heading back.
