Egypt Day 3 - July 7th

Woke up at 7 again today to eat breakfast that was homemade by the people working at the hotel. I had an omelet. The omelets here are flat, not rolled. Also had two Egyptian cookies, toast roll with strawberry jelly, mango juice and homemade coffee. After we ate, we changed and got ready for our soccer match. We were allowed to wear shorts and t-shirts for the first in Egypt while playing the match. We headed off on the bus. Amanda coached us and we played 5 vs 5 with a goalie on a great turf field that was mini. The Egyptian girls came dressed in uniforms with long pants underneath. They only had 7 players. It was such a cool experience as not only did we play against them, but then we split and played along with them. One of my favorite memories of Cairo! We got to know some of the girls. They were amazing people with huge determination, also very very smart - most knew at least 3 languages! After the match, we took pictures with the girls and then headed back to the hotel to shower and get on the bus to drive to Alexandria. The bus ride was slow and long - 4 hours on a hot smelly bus. When we got the the hotel, we all ran upstairs to watch the Women’s World Cup final!! Rose Lavelle scored the game winner. We then ate at the hotel but went out for dessert. When I got back from the hotel, after walking the area a bit, Laylay told me she had found a cockroach!!! It was so so big and absolutely disgusting. Branden came and killed it, but when there is one, there is definitely more. So I’m scared to death of waking up to find bites or finding another one. My anxiety was too high to sleep, all over a bug.
