Halfway point

Writer: Meg Meg

February 27th marked the halfway point of the voyage. 53 days down and 53 more to go. I am happy with what I have been able to accomplish in the first half of the trip. I have found my best friend(s) - with some trial and error. The ports have changed many times and I’m sure they will change again. But we finally got our voyage t-shirts.

The SAS organization has been lacking a bit when it came to preparation for our voyage as they haven't sailed in Europe before or during Covid. The home office has definitely been hearing those complaints. They have messed up many things, however the entire experience makes it so worth it.

As a ship community, we have had to get used to the constant change and unknown. Some students choose to leave the voyage after the last port (Spain). In total, to my knowledge we have lost five students (some to Visa issues and some by choice). The ship population is also declining as we have lost LLL (Lifelong learners).

After the in port days, I can basically sleep for a week straight from exhaustion. I have also found my favorite spots on the ship. Back deck 7 is the best for relaxing and reading. Front side deck 9 is best for laying in the sun on nice days. The best study location on warm days is back deck 9 tables.

Overall, I am incredibly grateful for the entire experience so far, I have absolutely loved it!
