Leaving Lisbon - Tempted but no tattoo

Writer: Meg Meg

We enjoyed waking up relatively late. We packed, headed to breakfast, and then back to the ship to drop off our luggage.

Isa had an appointment for a tattoo, so we headed back into the city. I was tempted to get one, but don’t worry mom, I did not!

I picked up some things that I needed for the ship and we headed to a really cute cafe near Pink street. Pink street is literally a street painted pink and it's famous for it. We spent the rest of the afternoon chilling in the cafe. I had the best coffee that I have had in the longest time!

After a couple hours in the cafe, we headed back to the ship just in time for on ship time. Unfortunately, due to high sea swells, our captain decided to remain in port the next few days. We will stay on the ship and start up classes again. It is interesting to explain to nearly everyone we meet what Semester at Sea is and how it works. When on the ship, we have classes. When in port, we don't have assignments or classes. By April 20th when we disembark in Germany, we will have completed a semester of classes. The people we meet are generally just baffled by the classes at sea concept.

Our next ports are France, Scotland, Poland, Sweden, and finally Germany. We've been told that SAS is carefully watching and evaluating the situation in Poland. They have two Diversion Ports in that region – Denmark and Amsterdam. At this time, we are planning to visit Poland but they are watching state department warnings.
