Started the day off early with the morning announcement. The ship got cleared quickly today so we got off by 9 am. It's such a freeing feeling to step off the ship and have the freedom to do whatever you please. And eat good food.
Once off the ship we headed to find a taxi. We are the only tourists on the island again, so they try to rip us off. The limited amount of taxis is also not helpful. We got an overpriced taxi to a scuba driving place in Green Bay. Green Bay supposedly has tons of turtles. The place is slightly sketchy and is willing to let us drive without being certified.
The place we went was so cute! The owner had moved from Switzerland and started a business in Cyprus. It was on two beautiful bays. We drove to a different location to actually dive. It was last of the main part of the Aiya Napa. It is known as the party place, unfortunately it was completely shut down.
After we arrived at beach we were gonna dive at, they got us all dressed up in the scuba gear and gave a quick tutorial and then we hit the water. He walked us halfway in and had us breathe, once we everyone was comfortable we hit the deeper water (but not too deep as we weren't certified). When we were first getting into the water I started getting a bit scared. But once I got my flippers on and the guide had me underwater I felt totally at home.
The entire experience was so amazing!! The water was so clear it blew my mind. We saw old statues on the floor of the ocean. I really wanna get scuba certified now. And do this everywhere.
It was freezing when we all got out of the water. Not to mention that we had weights on us so the gear seemed 100 pounds heavier.
After scuba diving we got back into the taxi and headed back to the terminal. We saw a beautiful sunset on the way back over the mountains. Once we got close to the ship terminal, we decided to stop for dinner. None of us had eaten all day so we were starving. The food was not great, but it was food.
We ate fast and then headed back to the ship to shower and change before heading up to the mountains for the night. We really are making the most out of our short amount of time in port!
The drive up to the mountains was funny. We had literally just come from scuba diving now we are in waist deep snow.
When we finally arrived at the hotel, the first look wasn’t too promising. The rooms even less. They have no heat and no warm water and no wine. I am a disappointed girl, I fell for the false advertising.
Anyways after I got myself settled I laid down for bed. Planning on early morning skiing!
Interesting thing, we all talked about how the ship has become home. It is relaxing to be “home” in our boat beds.
