Tanzania Day 4 - July 15th

Writer: Meg Meg

Woke up early again today, 7am . Had a really quick breakfast and headed for the village. We had planned an entire day of school for the children that attend the school in the village. When we arrived we did some opening games with the 27 children. We played with a parachute, then played mr Fox, but their version, that is what’s for lunch simbo. The children’s similes on their faces is unforgettable, so adorable and genuinely happy. we then split into smaller groups, I was with Sydney, we had 4 kids in our group. The children where so cute, I just loved them all. We gave them their bracelets we made from the night before and their team purple was made. We did 6 different stations with them, an learning one with colored cards, outdoor activity’s, play time with toys, painting, bracelet making, and face painting. I very much loved getting to play and teach these children hopefully some English they can remember. I will forever remember the outside station, we had one of the two teachers with us, she was just as excited to play with the toys we brought as the children. I found out that I definitely play favorites though, I love the pastors, William, third children named Jole. He’s the cutest kid ever and he’s always happy with these huge eyes that smile themselves. He would just run up to us and hug us, I will definitely miss him. After stations we brought all the children into the church and had lunch. As we where eating lunch all the children that where not in school or skipped school to watch the Americans had their faces pressed up against the “windows” saying hello and asking for leftover food. After the lunch we had a dance party with the children, then headed home at 1:45 pm. It was a very long but good day at the village. Once we got home half of us stayed and half wanted snacks so they went to a store. I stayed back as I wanted to just sit for a bit, Syd, Cathleen, and I just sat under the bungalow on the water and listened to the waves crash, we did this for almost an hour. Brandon killed our peaceful time though, he set up a soccer game with the misia. Their is a sand pit just behind our farm house that we played on. It started with only four of us plus Owen because the rest were at the store still. We played for two hours before we called a half time, the score was tied 2 - 2. It was not easy to play on the sand, the ball would get stuck and so would your feet. Near the end of half time the rest of the group showed up. We slowly just added players, when we started playing it was 5 vs 5, but when the game ended I believe it was 8 vs 8 on a very small sand pit. Amanda and Julie even played, Amanda is still very good at soccer, it was so fun I’m very glad Brandon broke up our peaceful time. We pulled out the victory after a long hard fight, they did not go easy on us, we all lost some toe nails. After we finally called the game, 3 hours later we quickly ran to shower for dinner. We went out to a seafood place just 10 minutes from our house. We arrived late, what a surprise, so the food was already made and ready for us. We ordered drinks and took in the sunset while we waited for them to bring the food. I was late to come to the table as I taking pictures of the sun set so the high school girl decided she wanted my chicken, which was requested the day beforehand, and not her fish so I eat fries for dinner. After arriving home Brittany and I went down to the beach, It was actually so nice, just sitting on the beach, we just listened to waves crashing and talked about life for hours. When we finally came up it turned out that Amanda had locked Brittany out, we had to wake up her room so she could get back into the main house. After she got in a maida walked me back to the farm house, he really liked to touch and take pictures with me, it was very awkward. This was by far my latest night out yet, and it was only 10:45.
